You can still help to support Alenka and read more about the causes she is supporting, you can visit her gofundme page

"I hope that I can raise both awareness and funds for these three very worthwhile causes. I know I can’t change the world with my donations alone, but I do know that whatever you give will be more appreciated than you could imagine."

Fundraising for causes that are important to us is a prevalent theme amongst our community, and at the heart of College life is an expectation that all pupils will develop a keen awareness of the needs of others, and - crucially- a firm belief that, whatever their, age they can make a difference right now.

First launched in 2008, Make a Difference Day takes place every September and sees every BC pupil and staff member engage in over 100 activities across the city and Sussex. This day is very much the launch pad for a year of support and interaction. The day is organised by the Houses, and there are subsequent visiting speakers to House assemblies and often much of the House fund-raising goes to support their MADD charity link. Those involved in Community Service regularly use Make a Difference Day to spend a longer, more sustained time wtih their partner charity as a way of forging closer relationships for the year ahead. Our pupils and Old Brightonians have always been active in helping one another, and those around them, and our culture of giving has resulted in amazing achievements, last year our pupils raised £150,000 for charity.

We love hearing from our Old Brightonians and sharing their exciting news and achievements. If you are planning on fulfilling a dream, completing a challenge or would like to have your voice heard in your community, get in touch with us at ob@oldbrightonians- we would love to hear from you.

Once again, a huge well done to Alenka for her incredible climb to the top of the earth's tallest freestanding mountain!
