With this new digitisation, every issue from 1966 to 2021 is now available on the digital archive, as is every autumn and Michaelmas Brightonian issue from 1950 to 1965.
Every Brightonian edition on the digital archive is fully searchable, so whether you want to find your Valete entry in the 1950s, check your match performance in Fourth Form rounders in the 1970s, or find the glowing reviews of your College musical in the 1990s, all of this can be done at the click of a button!
Highlights from the recent batch of digitised magazines include the school ski trip to Seefeld in January 1966, the Industrial Society visiting the College in January 1969 for its annual Industrial Conference, a review of the Lower School Play ‘Noah’ in the May 1973 Brightonian, and the wonderful pupil artwork found in many of the 1970s Brightonians, including the February 1978 issue.
We hope to build on the success of this digitisation project by digitising every remaining Brightonian magazine between 1945 and 1966 over the next couple of years. We will also be working hard to upload even more archival materials on to the website in the coming months and years, including a large photographic collection, all of which you will be able to access from home.
We can’t wait to see what you can dig up browsing through the magazines, so be sure to share your findings and tag your friends on Brighton College Connect!
