Building Brighton's Future - Friday 11th March

Brighton College is at an exciting point in its 170 year history. Founded in 1845 by a group of local philanthropists, the College was for many years on a challenging financial footing. The school was run largely on hard work and enthusiasm, and has experienced mixed fortunes over the years, with a few near misses into bankruptcy! In recent years, however, with Chairman Lord Skidelsky, Head Master Richard Cairns and Bursar Paul Westbrook at the helm, the College is on a sound footing. Pupil numbers have soared, the building programme is well-planned and co-ordinated years in advance and the academic, sporting and artistic results are truly outstanding.

All of this is part of a long term plan and vision for the College to be a place whose environment matches the excellence of our pupils and teachers. A place where the discovery of new things, the blossoming of new ideas, and the embracing of new methods are nothing new. A place that, as always, manages to be cut from different cloth, yet still very much be part of the fabric of Brighton.

We often speak of the ‘vision’ for the College, and we would love to welcome our Old Brightonians back to the College to see the campus, and to hear from the Head Master first-hand about the plans for the future and how you might be able to help. The achievements of the pupils at Brighton College, inside and outside of the classroom, are testament to the rich and varied life that they enjoy, and we are delighted to have the opportunity share this with our alumni, many of whom have made this possible.

If you haven’t been back for a while, or even if you have, come and see what the College is like today and how you can get involved.
