The Abingdon Royal British Legion renamed their bar in memory of Lt Belcher to mark the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings. A ceremony was held last Saturday at the Legion's Spring Road club to coincide with a visit from the D-Day Normandy Federation.

Lt Belcher's commemoration was spearheaded by local historian Stephen King and Poppy Appeal organiser Clare Oldfield, with Brighton College Archivist James Harrison providing them with the only known photograph of Lt Belcher (above).
