Last year Finlay undertook to trek the 500-mile Beara-Breifne Way in reverse from Blacklion in Co Leitrim to Dursey Island in Co Cork. Along the way, he relied on the kindness of strangers and his own foraging and camping skills for shelter and food. Finlay has written about his adventures in his blog, A Foragers Tale, and describes encounters with the IRA, the leader of an eco-village, members of a caravan club, and a dog who joined him as a walking companion for several days!
'The hospitality was unbelievable', says Finlay, who intends to do another walk next summer.
