I became a Volunteer Room Guide for the National Trust at Petworth House and enrolled in a 6 year part time BA(Hons) Course in Creative Studies at Sussex University. The course comprised Art History, Opera Studies, Literature together with Creative and Cultural Core Studies. In Year 5 my presentation was on the works of the wood sculptor and Old Brightonian David Nash (Bristol 1959-1963). My final presentation and dissertation was on the Neo-Classical sculptor John Flaxman (1755-1826), some of whose work can be seen at Petworth House. I was delighted and somewhat surprised to have obtained my degree with a 2.1 Honours. The Graduation Ceremony was held at the Dome in Brighton on 22nd July 2011.
Grahame is also a member of the Old Brightonian Lodge and currently serving the Province of Sussex as Deputy Provincial Grand Master. His daughter Louise Currell (nee Carr) was at Brighton College in Fenwick House from 1984-86.
