Mark has a longstanding history of support to the College and other Old Brightonians, regularly getting involved in supporting and attending alumni events, and taking an active interest in school developments and projects.

In August 2013 he was featured as our OB of the Month (now the Our Alumni series), enlightening the community with his memories of College in the 1970s and his invaluable contributions to the Brighton College Entrepreneurship Programme. More recently, Mark has been a keen ambassador for our Pioneers and the 1845 Society.

Currently the Head of Intellectual Property at Revolution Beauty, Mark is a leading brand lawyer, winning the prestigious 'Lifetime Achievement Award' at this year's Luxury Law Awards. After graduating from Brighton, Mark went up to Downing College, Cambridge to read Natural Sciences. His interest in intellectual property law was sparked by a conversation with fellow Old Brightonian Chris Pett (Ha. 1962-67), who encouraged him to combine his love of science and talent for communication.

“I was honoured to be invited to take up the role of OB President, and am delighted to be championing such a supportive, kind and interesting community.”

The President of the Old Brightonians is a vital part of our community, acting as a figurehead and ambassador for alumni and the College. As well as attending a variety of events, and promoting cross-community mentoring and volunteering, Mark will play a role in supporting our Overseas Ambassadors, ensuring that OBs have a friendly face in every corner of the globe. Mark takes over the role from Mat Ellis (Du. 1984-89); we thank Mat for his time and dedication to the community over the last three years, and hope to see him at another OB event very soon.
