She is massively passionate about PR and how one simple idea can change the perception of a brand or place. Other than PR, her passions are food (she’s a huge foodie and loves nothing more than tucking into a great dish with friends or finding a hidden gem of a restaurant wherever she is in the world) and travel (Barcelona being my second favourite city in the world after Brighton).
- When you were at Brighton College, what did you want to be when you ‘grew-up’?
I wanted to be a ‘business woman with a brief case and a mobile phone” at 12 years old which then morphed into a PR. Both are quite similar! - What do you do now, and what does your job involve?
I am a business woman, of sorts! I run a PR agency called Switched On based in Brighton with clients across the UK and some global accounts too. No day is the same, but my job entails running PR campaigns for clients to answer specific briefs. One day we could be hiding 1000 rubber ducks across London to launch a new restaurant and the next day we could be doing a photoshoot at a five star hotel on Park Lane, London. - What are the most rewarding and challenging parts of your job?
Seeing the campaign you have devised and run make a real difference to the reputation and bottom line of a client is hugely rewarding. As it is seeing a creative you’ve poured your heart and soul into hit the headlines (for the right reasons). The more challenging parts are juggling multiple clients, tight deadlines, often long days of travel (I am writing this while on a train to Birmingham) and the success of a campaign being on your shoulders! - What are you most proud of so far?
Along with my business partner Carl, building Switched On from just the two of us, to a successful agency of eight people in three years thats been nominated for various industry awards and won a host of excellent clients along the way. - What is your fondest memory of school?
I have so many, it is hard to pick just one. Helping create and play in Brighton College’s first all girl cricket team has to be up there. - Who was your favourite teacher and why?
Dr Seldon (not technically my teacher but my Head Master) - not only was he an incredible leader, but a fabulous mentor who encouraged me to push myself and taught me that I was capable of so much more than I realised at the time. - What was the best piece of advice you were given whilst at Brighton?
When I was asked what I wanted to do as a career at 17, I had no idea, then Dr Seldon asked me what I was good at. He told me to focus on that skill and channel that into a career. I did that very thing, and after I graduated from UCL I began channelling my ’skill’ talking into a career path, and quickly started in PR. - What advice you give to your 18 year old self?
To never give up; if at first you don't succeed, try and try again
