Max will spend a year studying at Harvard: tuition is fully-funded and includes a maintenance grant of $36,000. Awardees can study whatever they choose, and Max's plan is to focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence and politics, i.e. how AI can help solve problems like violent conflict and disinformation, and how to mitigate some of the dangers associated with AI. Max said he was "over the moon" to be a recipient: and quite rightly!
To receive one of these Fellowships is a huge achievement, as only two Henry Fellowships - alongside the Proctor Fellowship and Choate Fellowship - are awarded each year, by the Charles and Julia Henry Fund. The Fellowship was initiated in 1930, and previous Fellows include children's author Marni Hodgkin, sociologist Charles Tilly and world-renowned architect, Norman Foster.
