Born in Hampstead in 1939, Peter and his brothers Anthony (1951-55) and Robin (1960-64) spent the war as evacuees in Lytham St Anne's, before settling in Sussex and enrolling at Brighton. In his youth he became the Sussex junior squash champion. After leaving the College, Peter trained at J. Lyons and Co. before embarking on a successful career in advertising, beginning at Ogilvy, Benson & Mather.
Peter's most prominent role came in the 1970s-90s, as Head of PR and Marketing of TCCB (now ECB). A keen cricketer since his school days - and former member of the MCC - he garnered much respect as tour manager for England's A team. In 1987 he reached widespread fame in the sporting world for his stake in the notorious cheating row that led to a 13-year blockage in English-Pakistani cricket relations. In 2004 he moved to his current abode in Middleton-on-Sea.
