The Annual Dinner in November has sold out but we have made additional space by booking the Blackshaw Room as well as the Dining Hall, so some tickets are still available. There are a number of reunions taking place that evening including a 1980 Silver Reunion, and a gathering of the 1949 PT Team, while the OB Lodge will be hosting two tables. We are also offering all post-1997 leavers discounted tickets as this will be Dr Seldon’s last formal engagement with the OBA as Headmaster. There are already over 120 guests confirmed, and many more who have reserved tickets, so if you would like to join us, please contact us without delay.
Looking forwards, the Annual Service of Remembrance will take place, as usual, in the College Chapel and will be followed by Lunch. All OBs are most welcome for what is always a moving and emotionally charged occasion and as tickets are required for Lunch, I would urge you to contact us to book in advance as early as possible.
As we approach Christmas, (76 shopping days left at the time of writing…so depressing), I hope you have 2 dates in your diary : the Carol Service at St Peter’s Church on 11 December and College Christmas Concert in the Great Hall on 15 December. Both will be a welcome reminder of what Christmas is really about and I hope to see many OBs in attendance as always.
In the year ahead, we will be helping Durnford House celebrate it’s centenary, there will be a Musical Evening in tribute to Gavin Henderson and another hospitality box at Brands Hatch, along with the usual London Drinks, and lots of special reunions including one for the Class of 1991.
The Association is brimming with energy and embracing new ideas whilst remaining true to our traditions. I hope you agree and if you have not yet dared attend an OB event for fear of what you might be confronted with, please be brave and join us. Above all, if you’ve lost touch with your contemporaries and would like to be reunited, Fiona Aiken is our own Cilla Black (as in Surprise, Surprise, not Blind Date!). She can help trace people and bring them back together after years apart. It’s what we’re here for and I hope you’ll take advantage.
