I believe it is the role of the Association of Old Brightonians to provide support and encouragement in the work the College does for the pupils of today and tomorrow, so that those young men and women can enjoy every possible advantage as they prepare for their future lives.

It is, therefore, my pleasure to announce that the Old Brightonians have agreed to sponsor the forthcoming Rugby and Netball Tours of South Africa in August 2005. The funds will help provide kit for those talented sports men and women and we wish them well in their tournaments.

In this anniversary year Old Brightonians of all generations are warmly invited to join us at the many social events listed on this site. Whether your interest is fast cars (Brands Hatch, 5 June) or cricket (First XI faces Tonbridge, followed by Cricket Dinner, 18 June), there is something for everyone. Whether your preference is the informality of the London Drinks (10 May, 11 October) or the formality of the Annual Dinner (Guest of Honour, Johnny Gold founder of Tramp, 26 November), I hope all Old Brightonians and their spouses will feel at home among friends. For a full list of events, please click here and check back regularly as new events are being added all the time.

Finally, in this anniversary year, Old Brightonians will be aware that the Association is leading the fundraising campaign for the erection of a new sports pavilion on the New Ground (East Brighton Park). Many OBs have been extremely generous already, with a number agreeing to become Foundation Members, pledging £3,000 or more. I hope that OBs of all ages will consider making a contribution, perhaps giving a small amount monthly over a period of years, as every penny will help to ensure that Brighton College remains at the forefront of educational excellence in the future – perhaps even for the next 160 years!
