The Rockinghorse Children's Charity which was established in 1967 and is the official fundraising arm for the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital, and also supports the Trevor Mann Baby Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, and the Special Care Baby Unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. The charity raise money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equpiment, to ensure that the quality and environment in which children are treated is suited to their needs. 

Previous winners of the Contribution to Sussex award include, Nick Dodds- head of the Brighton Festival, Roger French- cheif executive of Brighton and Hove Bus Company, and Tony Bloom- Chairman of Brighton and Hove Albion. as the Argus writes: "Whether professionally or personally, this one-off individual makes Sussex a better place to be and is an inspiration to us all"
