Sarah, who was the winner of The Guardian’s women cricketer of the year award in 2018, and made 226 appearances for England, has retired from the game in order to focus on managing her mental health.
Sarah earnt a reputation as one of the world’s finest players, in a career that started at Brighton College. She and fellow England player, Holly Colvin, defied the MCC by playing for the boys’ First XI whilst they were at the College, before being selected to play for England in the women’s team aged just 17. She went on to be a cornerstone in the England team, and is the second leading all-time run-scorer, with 6,533 international runs, including seven centuries.
“To be right in the thick of women’s cricket as it’s gone from strength to strength – not only in England but across the world,” said Sarah, “has been an amazing experience, and I can look back on what women’s cricket has achieved with great pride at playing some small part in it.”
