- When you were at Brighton College, what did you want to be when you ‘grew-up’?
I wanted to be a million things, but never anything that required me having to do maths
- What are you now you've grown up?
Sometimes I'm an actor. Other times I'm still deciding what to be.
- What is your best memory of school?
Mr Crichton's History lessons. They were so much fun! I loved the way he did impressions of the people we were learning about. If you haven't seen it, ask him to do his Mussolini. It's brilliant.
- What was the best piece of advice you were given
I love the Eleanor Roosevelt quote "Remember always that you not only have the right to be an individual, you have an obligation to be one."
- What do you do /did you do as a career
I pretend to be other people. But I'm not a spy. That would be awesome though.
- What does your job involve?
Drinking a lot of tea, reading scripts, doing funny voices, waiting for the phone to ring, putting on fabulous costumes, getting up at 5am, waiting in audition rooms, having my hair done, learning lines (forgetting lines), having my face made up by men who know far more about make-up than I do, getting home at 8pm, considering things carefully, acting on impulse, watching films, cringing when I see my face on screen (can't watch myself without the urge to be sick), kissing strangers, learning about myself, flying around the world, loving it.
- What are the most challenging parts of your job?
12 hours on set in a corset and a dress that weighs about 10 kilos. That requires a bit of stamina.
- What have you done that you are most proud of
I'm super-proud of my vegetable patch that I've been growing since I was 14. I show it to everyone who comes to my house, even if they're not interested. I once grew an 11 ft sunflower. That was pretty much the pinnacle of my pride. It got top-heavy and then fell over eventually. But I guess pride comes before a fall.
- What is the single thing that would most improve the quality of your life?
I'm probably meant to say "An iPad 2" because we're all brainwashed by Apple. But I really can't think of anything that I'm missing from my life, I've got love (and I've got an iPhone) so I'm all set. That was a joke about the iPhone, by the way. I don't need it, it's just really useful.
- What are the three objects you would take with you to a desert island?
A hammock for two, my boyfriend and a notebook (one that comes with a pen obviously). I asked the bf, and he doesn't mind being referred to as an object as long as it means we get a free holiday on a desert island.
- How would you like to be remembered?
I'd like people to say really nice things about me, even if they aren't strictly true or deserved. That would be good. Also, I think the 11 ft sunflower should get a mention as being top of the list of my achievements. That was one tall flower.
