Around 30 OBs and their guests enjoyed a first class 5 course dinner in the company of the Headmaster, Richard Cairns, recently retired Second Master, Simon Smith and Jo-Anne Riley, Deputy Headmistress. The highlight of the formal part of the evening was undoubtedly the Headmaster's remarks in which he highlighted the school's continuing extraordinary achievements.
Each of the past 6 decades were represented by a variety of Old Brightonians now resident in North America which now hosts around 200 of our former pupils. The dinner also saw a 30% increase in attendance over its inaugural dinner. The level of interest in the US association is now at a point where we would not be surprised if 50 guests attended next year's event. Watch this space for imminent confirmation of the venue and date!
Each of us who attended what was a wonderful evening must thank Rebecca Findlay, Debra Chalmers and the development team for their ongoing support of our infant association. Our group also expects to host 2 informal regional events before next year's dinner - very likely one on the East Coast and one in California - and to inaugurate its own newsletter and Facebook page.
Any OBs living on the American side of the "pond" are strongly encouraged to contact any member of the development team at the College or Ingram Losner, US OB Ambassador at usa@oldbrightonians.com. We look forward to more and more OB's re-connecting with "all things Brighton College" through the US OB group!
